Checklist for your Web site

Before we can begin designing your Web site, we will need some information from you.

Text for the site: We will need, in electronic format (Microsoft Word, a text file, etc), all text that will be on the site. By electronic format, we mean it should either be on a disk or emailed as an attachment. Note that although we will be happy to make editorial suggestions, we do not write text for you. We also do not type your text in; it must be in a suitable electronic format.

Images: Please provide us with any images that you would like to appear on the site. You may provide them in electronic format, or as photographs that we will scan. Note that there is an extra fee for document scans.

Color Theme: If you have a preferred scheme of colors, please let us know. Otherwise, we will choose a suitable scheme for you. Please limit the number of colors to two or three, whenever possible.

Your Contact Information: It's a good idea to have your contact information posted somewhere on the site. This would include an email address, phone number, mailing address, etc. If applicable, you should include directions to your location.

Domain Name: A domain name is what you type in a Web browser in order to get to a Web site (i.e. www.beantownweb.com). It's a bit like a phone number, and is unique to each Web site. If you don't already have a domain name for your site, you will need to obtain one. You should also obtain hosting service, if you don't already have it (see below). For smaller sites, you can usually get a domain name and hosting package for about $100/year.

Hosting/Server information: A host is basically the "house" where your Web site lives. If you already have your site hosted, we will need a login name and password in order to put files on your server. If you do not yet have a hosting provider, we can suggest one for you, however, you will have to arrange for the hosting service yourself.

Files in PC format: We are a PC-based company, so whenever possible, please supply electronic files in PC format. If you use Mac computers, there are usually options in Mac programs to save as a document for a PC. We can help you convert most files, but graphics files can sometimes cause complications.

Deposit: Before we can begin designing your web site, we will need a deposit of half your quoted amount.
